Meet the goats

Nicolstoke Boer goats

On Nicolstoke farm we formerly bred Boer goats for show. Now our goats live out their lives on the farm as companion animals that help us clear some of the bushy areas that become over grown.

Boer goats

The Boer goat (or Boerbok) is a meat-producing goat originating from South Africa. The Boer goat has a white coat with a distinctive brown head. They're a very friendly and docile goat that grows quickly and is very fertile, commonly producing twins. They were introduced into Australia in the 1980s due to their hardy nature being ideal for the arid and bushy Australian environment. As they are bred for meat, they are a very large breed of goat, with does weighing up to 100kg and bucks being up to in excess of 120kg. Due to their libido and size, we do not keep any bucks on Nicolstoke Farm.Â
