About

About the farm

Nicolstoke Farm is a 100+ acre property that boasts fantastic views and has the added bonus of only being about 15 minutes drive from Jervis Bay. While we do farm cattle, by only having limited stock primarily for showing on the property, it means we are also able to maintain a population of Australian wildlife with the farm being home to a number of wombats, wedge-tailed eagles, kookaburras, wallabies, glossy black cockatoos, and many eastern grey kangaroos.

About us

Nicolstoke Farm was set up as a place for our family to come together and work together to maintain and prosper. Our family, while all working in several different fields, have all been able to apply our various skills and knowledge to build and enjoy the farm. We have learned a great deal since owning and working on the farm and have really developed a passion for the land and our livestock. This passion is something we love to share with other local landowners and anyone who themselves is interested in setting up a small hobby farm on the south coast.

The animals and showing

At Nicostoke Farm we take great pride in how we treat our animals. When breaking our animals in for handling and showing, we place a huge emphasis on developing a calm and trusting relationship with our animals. Nothing is rushed, and each step is done at each individual animal's pace. This makes for a far more enjoyable show experience for both us and the animals. We love showing the Salers as they are quite an unknown breed and often give others an interesting insight into the different European breeds of cattle. Similarly, Charolais are fantastic to show due to their presence in the show ring. We also love supporting local young people and other small farm owners to learn how they can develop a show team or learn about how to raise and show cattle. This is something we really look forward to developing with our geese as we build up our numbers over the coming years. Breeding and showing geese is something we hope to promote locally on the south coast of NSW. If you are interested in setting up your own Australian Settler goose stud, in getting some Salers or Charolais cattle for commercial, stud, or show breeding, or would like to know how you can start showing your own cattle, email us at nicolstoke.salers@gmail.com and we would be happy to offer any advice we can.
